With an interest in his eye Alan looks up and says, "I do, but you don't seem to understand the whole concept of workers as resources, this is a simplification to understand business in an objective point of view. The details you can get into about workers show that they are more than a resource, besides I'm pretty sure you are a resource in some ways to whoever put you up to this. Did you ever stop to think of the fact that control is necessary to prevent chaos?" "Tell me then, how do you define control?" "Control is regulation and restriction, it sounds like it is wrong but the restrictions aren't there to limit, they are there to protect. Do you understand that?" "Let me ask you a question, do you consider your leaders to be noble and honest?" Alan thought to himself for a moment, probably realizing that he cannot fight the truth. He decided to dodge the question "What do you mean by noble?" "I am asking if you consider them to be benevolent, caring, and truthful, that they never look to harm, only to help. Is this what you consider your leaders to be?" "Not everyone can fit that figure so I guess the answer would be no." "Then tell me, why do you place your trust into those who are untrustworthy? Would it not lead to your own injury to follow someone who believes against you?" "Because they are placed in check by other people". "So you are saying that the government stays in constant disagreement? Without agreement, your government will accomplish nothing. Through this we see that according to you, although you did not implicitly imply it, your belief logically makes the government useless." "Listen, just because they are kept in check does not mean that they have to disagree with each other." "So how are they in check? How does this prevent corruption? If the government moves as a body then it can corrupt very easily. Can you not see that the government is corrupt? How can you follow something like that?" At that point Steven, our boss had voiced himself "You are jumping to conclusions at every statement he makes. How do you expect him to build a foundation for his argument if every piece is knocked down before it can even be built?" Smiling the leader replies "You forget that your friend here has ridiculed my own argument and put the pieces through a test of fire. I have founded my argument on the truth unlike your friend; hence, it thrives through your scorn. Am I really to blame for the base he had built upon?" A silence struck the room for a bit. Coming to a decision that silence has been kept too long the leader tried to restore conversation. "You need not be afraid to speak. I am not here to hurt you or judge you. I am here to help you."
At this point one of the men went up to Beth who was still crying. He bent so his eyes would look into hers as he softly worded, "It is ok, we aren't here to hurt you. We just want to help you. That is all. If you could just hear us out then maybe you can make your own conclusions." At that point, Beth's eyes slowly went from her palms to his. The man looked to her and said, "My name is Ghenshi, what is yours?" She looked back to him softly expressing, "My name is Beth." "You have a beautiful name Beth." "Thank you." "I want to make sure you are ok, because I was once like you and I know what you're going through. Just remember that if you have any questions or need help talk to me, I'll be here for you."
