Chapter 1

     Hello my name is Gorge Parkinson. I just recently turned 18. As I glimpsed at a local news paper I noticed the front page headline that read:

"Have we entered World War III? The answer to this question a possible YES with Germany invading France.  Reports from the battlefield are not good.  America is rallying its troops and recruiting in the U.S. is at an all time high.  The UN is trying to prevent the war from continuing but is failing at it's attempt. The INAF (International Armed Forces) will be deployed if nothing is done…"

I skimmed through the paper until I came to other articles, hoping for something to get my mind of the front page, but instead I sadly read: "All military sections are reissuing the draft.  All citizens between the ages of 18 to 25 may be drafted.  Your date of birth will determine your status. The first round of recruits will be chosen tonight, the dates will be called at 7:00 PM on your local ABC channel. If you are drafted you must report to your local recruiting station ASAP. Best of luck to all." 

That night I decided to watch the draft, to see if any of my friend's birthdays were chosen.  As I watched patiently the date June 13 was called.  I was shocked when I noticed that the news had chosen the birth date of  my best friend , Jake Hoppings.  Devastated as I was about to turn of the TV, the date August 17, was announced. Hesitantly I realized that they had called out my birthday as well! Millions of thoughts ran through my head but, the one that stood out the most was how I wished the war would magically discontinue before it really got started.
