What's up? Bill De Leeuw here, today I will be telling you about the brand new football league called the XFL in association with the WWF's Owner -Vince McMahon. The XFL stands for "Extreme Football League." This will be an exciting new football league, because it will take football back to its tougher roots like in the 60's and 70's. The brand of smash mouth Football that the fans crave. The XFL will have eight football teams, and will debut February 3, 2001 on "NBC."
The XFL is taking people that didn't make it in the NFL, and letting them get their shot at fame. In Chicago IL, JULY 19, 2000 the XFL hired Legendary Chicago Bears line backer Dick Butkus as the head coach of the Chicago team. The Memphis XFL team will play all five of there home games in the legendary Liberty Bowl. On Tuesday July 13, 2000, Chicago was the first out of eight charter cities to have a team in the XFL. Vince McMahon, Basil DeVito and other members of the executive committee officially announced that the XFL would be headed to Orlando, to join Chicago and Memphis as three of eight XFL cities.
